Ariadna: Locating Automated External Defibrillators Made Easy
Did you know that in the case of a cardiac arrest, survival rates decrease by 10% every minute? To help you react as quickly as possible, this app makes it easy to locate the nearest Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Developed by the Sociedad Española de Cardiología (Spanish Society of Cardiology) and Cruz Roja (Red Cross), this application also allows any user to contribute to updating the AED registry in Spain, with the goal of increasing accessibility.
Ariadna is a collaborative map of defibrillators in Spain that aims to make it easy for any citizen to locate them using technology. In addition to trained volunteers in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), anyone can help by uploading the location of AED devices in public or private spaces through geolocation, validating those that have already been registered by other users, and even adding photographs of the location.
To reward users who contribute the most to the map, the app is gamified. You will receive symbolic medals when you register or validate an AED, creating a personalized collection of defibrillators in your profile.
Ariadna is a project developed within the SEC-Calidad program, which aims to improve the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cardiovascular diseases, as well as promote better cardiovascular health in society.
